Harry Potter, #1

Ok, so it's been nearly 14 years since the first book from the Harry Potter series was published. It was a book that changed the whole world. So I feel like I have to share my review with you.

Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone was an amazing book, no doubt of all. It is MY book, THE book that changed my life and who I used to be. It might sound tad corny or exaggerated but J.K. Rowling and her magical world made me who I am today.

First of all, I read this book when I was 8 years old, Oh how the time flies... This wasn't my first book, but it was the one that drove me into the reading path, it was the book that made me realize that I wanted to read all kind of books, that I wanted to write my own stories and that I wanted to create something that someday could change someone's life. This was the book that made me fall in love with England, and without this book I wouldn't be who I am today.

I love Joanne, her literary style is amazing, so complex and easy to read at the same time, contemporary and beautiful, it's incredible how she created a whole new world and fantastic characters for us readers.

Harry is a character that defined a generation, he is the most amazing boy that could ever exist. So nice, honest, loyal, brave and has the biggest heart ever. It's really enjoyable to read about his life; how he hates living with the Dursley, how he misses his parents even though he can't remember them too well, how he finds out that he's a wizard and how he deals with the fact that he's "the boy who lived", how he starts his friendship with Ron and Hermione (the greates freaking friendship I've ever read of) and how he starts living his life in a new world, where he has as many friends as enemies. It's an amazing story about an 11 year old boy who never thought that he could belong to any place and discovers a new world, where he fits like a missing puzzle piece and where he's happy.

All of the characters are well written, and they all have their stories, so it's like you're Harry and you're meeting all these new people along the pages. Neville, Hermione, Ron, Hagrid, Dumbledore... I feel like they're all good friends of mine. I even love the evil characters. They all have that factor that make them real even when they are fictional and magical.

The plot is amazing in every single way and it is really impossible to put the book down. It is filled with adventure, action, mystery, hilarity and MAGIC.

The spells, the magical creatures, the professors, "quidditch": the best sport ever (after football of course) , the castle, the forest, the potions, the school subjects, the books.... All of these things were beyond magical!

I could go on, with my non-objective review (if this could be even be called a review), but all I have to say is that this is a modern classic, an epic book and epic story, with epic characters written by an epic author.

Title: Fifty Shades Of Grey
Series: Fifty Shades, #1
Author: E.L. James

Pages: 385
Published: 2011
Read In: 2011
Rating:
3.5/5

My my my, "Fifty Shades of Grey" was a very interesting reading, and I can bet all of Christian's millions that this book is going to be HUGE. British author, E.L. James is the one to blame for our latest obsession. This book has received so many mixed reviews, and we really don't care about its poor writing style, this is a very entertaining story and we enjoyed reading it... Sometimes that's all it takes.

This book started as a fan fiction of Twilight. Yes, Twilight. E.L. James darkest fantasies are all over this story, and SHH don't tell anyone but we like it better than Twilight.

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success—his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family—Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you,     possess you, and stay with you forever.

So what can we say about FSOG?? That it was a nice, sexy reading and we recommend it ONLY if you are open minded and if you enjoy reading erotica. This book might have some content that goes against some people beliefs so it's all up to each reader.

“Saying 'I notice you're a nerd' is like saying, 'Hey, I notice that you'd rather be intelligent than be stupid, that you'd rather be thoughtful than be vapid, that you believe that there are things that matter more than the arrest record of Lindsay Lohan. Why is that?' In fact, it seems to me that most contemporary insults are pretty lame. Even 'lame' is kind of lame. Saying 'You're lame' is like saying 'You walk with a limp.' Yeah, whatever, so does 50 Cent, and he's done all right for himself.” ― John Green

The Fault In... John Green???

Oh John Green, what have you done to me?

There's something about The Fault In Our Stars that got everyone either hyping about it or wondering why the hype. I belong to the first group of people. When I bought this I was expecting something very different, more childish perhaps, but when I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. I loved it for several reasons:

1. Hazel and Augustus are not entirely realistic, I can't resist teenagers that think in such a complex way and have very mature points of view about everything; although I know why they are like that, they have bigger problems than the average teenagers, but still, I'd love to meet people like them.

2. Love story is not the main subject of this story. I'm a hopeless romantic, and I can't never resist a love story, but 99% of the times, I get bored when the love life of the main characters is the center of the whole story. This story was about trying to overcome a letal disease, achieving goals, trying to make dreams come true, but most important, LIVING.

3. Augustus Waters. Oh my. This boy was too much for me to read. He is close to perfection, and I'm not talking about looks. I mean, he's flawed, like we all are; but he's got a big soul and aura that made him become one of my favourite characters ever. I think he might be an improved male version of me.

4. They exchanged books. I think this is one of the most romantic ways of showing someone that you care about them. Lending them your books, talking about them, discussing how you liked it or why you hated it; it just brings you closer to someone.

5. Peter Van Houten. REAL ass character. Not living in a fairytale, he lives trying to suppress the pain of losing someone you love due to cancer. Not all characters must be lovable in a book. I can't tell if John Green wrote Peter with the intention of being hated or being understood. I understood him.

6. The sex scene. No explanation needed.

7. Quotes. This book is full of relatable quotes that make you think. Seriously. My favorite? "That's the thing about pain, it demands to be felt"

8. The ending. Just no. All my emotions met while reading the last chapters of this book. I was a mess, i literally was curled up, weeping and wishing I had never read this. It's just how I dealt with so many things going on with my life, but still, It made me think and cry my heart out.

So, it's understandable and respectable if you didn't like this book, or any book that's causing so much hype among your fellow readers, because we all handle every story differently. One thing is true: This is one of my favorite books and I recommend it to every single person in the world. This was an amazing, full of emotions reading. It's amazingness its unbelievable, if you haven't read it yet I don't know what are you waiting for.

Title: Starters
Series:
Starters And Enders, #1
Author: Lissa Price
Pages:

Rating: 5/5

Hi guys, I found this book by mistake on my kindle back in March, and I’m so glad I did! I fell in love with it. The plot is great and original, in my opinion is a bit scary but Lissa Price developed the story in an incredible way. It's a MUST read, it will thrill you and take you to a place you never thought you’d go, expect the unexpected, I guarantee you won’t put the book down. This book have romance, adventure, mystery, action and a lot of surprises! The sequel “Enders” is expected for 2013.

Here’s what Starters is about:

Callie lost her parents when the Spore Wars wiped out everyone between the ages of twenty and sixty. She and her little brother, Tyler, go on the run, living as squatters with their friend Michael and fighting off renegades who would kill them for a cookie. Callie’s only hope is Prime Destinations, a disturbing place in Beverly Hills run by a mysterious figure known as the Old Man. He hires teens to rent their bodies to Enders—seniors who want to be young again. Callie, desperate for the money that will keep her, Tyler, and Michael alive, agrees to be a donor. But the neurochip they place in Callie’s head malfunctions and she wakes up in the life of her renter, living in her mansion, driving her cars, and going out with a senator’s grandson. It feels almost like a fairy tale, until Callie discovers that her renter intends to do more than party—and that Prime Destinations’ plans are more evil than Callie could ever have imagined…

Wow, I had high expectations about this book, so i thought I'd get disappointed.. But no. I loved it. It's a YA book in all its splendor; and the best thing is that the romance in this book is not the main subject. I can say that I look forward to reading the sequel.

First of all Callie is a nice character, not the I'm-so-annoying-main-character we've all read about. Second, Michael is handsome, sweet and he is her best friend (Never saw it coming right?) and third, Blake is the super-smoking-millionaire-sweet guy. At the beginning, this love triangle was kind of what all love triangles are all about in YA books, but wait!!! Lissa Price decides to give us an unexpected twist, so this love triangle is way more intriguing, complicated and sexy. YES, just what the story needed.

And the ending of the story was such a cliffhanger.. I mean, she's standing between two guys that have feelings for her and she doesn't know what to do, and suddenly she hears a super familiar voice in her head.. WOW. And then... The END. Oh Lissa why?

The main plot is really amazing, in my opinion. I read the book in less than a day, i couldn't put it down. I actually think this could happen in the future, so it was a bit terrifying.

Still, this story was just what I needed, I already read it in spanish and english, Starters earned a special place on my bookshelf.

This book won a special place in my bookshelf, I have had the pleasure to interact with Lissa Price via Twitter, and she didn't just wrote an amazing book; she's also lovely.
